Athlete Spotlight - Phoebe Yorston
This past summer, Emma worked with Phoebe in a 1-on-1 setting. Phoebe is a high school soccer player from Massachusetts who came in with the goal of getting faster & moving more efficiently on the field.
The main training focus over the course of eight weeks was to find awareness of her body within space, learn to engage & utilize the posterior chain & promote knee drive throughout the stride.
The first few sessions were low in intensity, but very technical. Phoebe’s natural gait was explored & new movement patterns were slowly introduced. The sessions began twice a week for the first five weeks & increased to three sessions per week for the remaining three weeks.
Emma provided Phoebe with Daily Work to complete outside of the gym, as well as some cues to consider throughout her day to day routine. Phoebe was super eager to put the work in & her dedication & attention progressed the process. Some days were better than others, but Phoebe’s drive to improve herself mentally & physically led her to successfully achieving her goals.
By the end of the eight weeks, Phoebe’s running posture improved, her strides became smoother & faster, she had gained strength & the ability to better control her movements.
She was thrilled to see improvements & get started with her season. She had gained visible confidence within her strides and translated it to the field.
Phoebe just finished up the fall soccer season this past week & Emma had gotten the chance to watch her play.
“As a coach, this was exciting to see. I am incredibly proud of her dedication & effort. As the off-season approaches, I am looking forward to helping her continue to grow as an athlete & individual.” - Emma
